February 2012 Meeting

The February meeting really has us all jazzed and ready to head off in a GREAT direction!  We discussed our quilt show (June 8th!) and began forming committees for promotion, submissions, and show.  We even tossed around a theme and music ideas.  This is going to be an AMAZING show!  I can't wait to provide you with more details.

Not only is the quilt show getting off to an impressive start, but our group is beginning to get more organized.  You can now pay your annual dues via PayPal on the right hand side of the blog.  Everything is very "official" now and with that comes the fun of committees, charity work, and more!  Committees will be discussed further at the March 10th meeting, so please plan to join us.  :)  I know many facets of the groups organization will be discussed at that meeting, so it will be an important one for sure.

Cornelia, sweetly, volunteered herself as Historian.  She will be working on a scrapbook for the group and working on a "constitution" of sorts as well!  We really appreciate her stepping up for that!

Leslie, designed our new logo!  Don't you love it?!!!!  So fresh and modern.  It will be on our member cards, and hopefully you've noticed the fabulous facelift she gave to our blog.  :)  Big thanks to her!!!  Loving the new look.

And I, Amanda, volunteered to help keep us up to date on blog posts!  (I promise...they'll get better.)  ;)

We're also discussing attending QuiltCon (presented by the Modern Quilt Guild) in Austin next year.  Attending Sewing Summit in 2013 was discussed as well.

In between our quilt show, a potential charity project, conferences, and organizing ourselves into a well oiled machine of a group we are also hoping to plan a few "sew days" so we can make more beautiful works like these:

Crystal - Stunning Solid pieced quilt
A festive holiday star quilt from Crystal.

Crystal's "Quilt As You Go" quilt featuring some lovely modern quilting.
The pieced back of Crystal's holiday quilt.
And because apparently she doesn't have enough to do she rescued this darling vintage hexie quilt top and is trying to decide the best way to go about quilting it.

I, Amanda, shared a sweet little crib quilt I made for my BFF's new baby girl.

Elizabeth shared this darling little mini-quilt.  We're hoping she'll teach us her applique technique sometime!  :)

Another sweet mini quilt by Elizabeth.
Leslie created this gorgeous pink/orange Valentine's quilt.

Leslie also shared this curved 9-patch block she completed.  I'd love to see a whole quilt, wouldn't you?  ;)
Stephanie shared her pinwheel quilt from Tula Pink fabrics.  So bright and cheery!  And some lovely hand stitching to boot!

Cornelia shared her hexie blocks featuring Joel Dewberry fabric at the focus.  I hope she can get this quilt top to work out because it will be tremendously impressive!
Kristine actually finished personalizing this at the meeting!  A year in the making people!!!  IMPRESSIVE!!!!

Angelina has gone hexie crazy!  Those colors are so soothing.

And Trina shared her wonky star quilt.  So fun!!!
Okay peeps - March is a big meeting...hope to see you there.  And of course bring something to share!!!  ;)
