About

The Oklahoma Modern Quilt Guild (OKCMQG) is a branch of The Modern Quilt Guild. We are a community of quilters in Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas who strive to inspire and educate others on the art of modern quilting. Our members range from beginner to expert, so all are welcome regardless of quilting experience.

The OKCMQG has monthly meetings where we learn and discuss ideas and techniques. The Show & Tell portion of our meetings is a favorite by all as we share our completed projects or works-in-progress. We also occasionally meet for other events such as sew days. In 2011, we had our first public quilt show and we are looking to make it an annual event.

We also have an active Facebook page which serves as another way of getting to know each other. We frequently post work-in-progress photos or seek advice from each other regarding fabric choices, products and techniques.

Please join us! New members are welcome at any time and your first meeting/event is free. If you like what you see, membership dues are only $40 annually. When you become a member of the OKC Modern Quilt Guild you also attain membership in the national Modern Quilt Guild!

For more information on the OCKMQG, please contact us at OKCMQG@gmail.com

FAQs:
What exactly is "modern quilting"?

That's a good question that has a variety of answers. The Modern Quilt Guild, of which we are a chapter of, has an excellent definition of what modern quilting is on its website. We recommend that you check it out!

How often are guild meetings?
The OKCMGQ holds general guild meetings once a month. We often have other activities as well, such as Sew Days and small special interest groups.

What do you do at guild meetings?
Our past meetings have included speakers sharing their expertise on photographing our quilts, fabric printing, and long-arm quilting. We also plan group activities such as Sew Days, the guild quilt show, group sewing projects or swaps and future meeting topics. We all look forward to the Show and Tell portion of our meeting where we all bring something we're working on or have finished. It's a favorite of our members!

How much does it cost to join the OKC Modern Quilt Guild?
The OKCMQG dues are $40.00 annually. In July, we drop that down to $20.00 for the remainder of the year.

How do I make my payment?
There are several ways to submit your dues. You can attend a meeting and pay with cash or by check, or you can pay online with PayPal by clicking the BUY NOW button on the sidebar of our website.

Can I come to a meeting first? What if I don't like it?
The first guild meeting you attend is free! If you like what you see, you can submit your dues at the next meeting or on our website.
