November Meeting Recap

The holiday season is in full swing, but our members are still taking the time to sew for themselves and for gifts! We had a great meeting in December and got to see and share a lot of beautiful projects.

First up we have members who are participating in the President's Challenge. The President's Challenge asks you to make a quilt that is 75% of any color, including shades, patterns, and variations.

Shirlene started out by sharing a mini-cousin of another quilt she has done. So modern and elegant!

Bob went big and bold in red and matchstick quilting

Stacy did a modern gray and orange variation on an Alison Glass pattern. So cool!

Susan made this remarkable black and greytone quilt with bold color accents- love it!

Karen used a beautiful fabric with red and purple gradients against a textured gray with funky quilting. Love!

Karen also made this amazing tribute to Prince! Head to the winter quilt show to see this beauty in person, because she quilted it with lyrics from his songs- yes!

Elizabeth is doing a beautiful modern cat block in memory of her beloved kitty. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Agnes used pieces of indigo that she hand died and raw edge appliqued with a technique taught to us by Melissa Averinos- so unique!

Beth used scraps from her stash and also used a reverse applique technique taught to us by Melissa Averinos to make this amazing tree. When combined with her beautiful free-motion quilting- it is breathtaking!

Vicki used blues to make this beautiful cross variation piece- I love how it turned out!

Ann S took some lessons from our color theory workshop a few months ago and made this striking quilt- I love those colors together!

Chanda made this gorgeous piece focusing on neutrals with pops of green. And the back was just as stunning!

Cameron made this visually stunning piece as a variation on one of the National Modern Quilt Guild's blocks of the month from this year- love it!

We also had so many delights from our regular show and share portion.

Shirlene was taking this BEAUTIFUL quilt to her grandmother as a present. And the quilting by Beth is the perfect touch!

Paula was feeling festive by finishing these adorable holiday minis to decorate her house!

Sue brought three different minis that show off such different aesthetics and personality- it's impossible to choose a favorite!

Emily brought two beautiful quilts- the first called Neptune. The colors are amazing and she made it without a pattern.

She also brought a beautiful fall leaves quilt, just in time for us to start feeling the season here.

Vicki did an amazing job on her quilt from the pattern Halo by Jen Kingwell. What a masterpiece! I could look at it for hours admiring the handiwork and fabrics!

Chanda shared this wonderful chipper baby quilt. What a lucky baby to have such a gift!

Karen made this awesome, roomy bag from beautiful Alexander Henry fabric featuring Frida Kahlo and Dia de los Muertos imagery. I wanted to take it home with me!

Beth  made herself a beautiful blouse that she says she might never take off. I don't blame her!

Evangeline did an awesome job paper piecing this Hillary block.

And she showed us this beautiful quilt! Great job, Evangeline!

One of our new members, Sarah, shared this beautiful improv quilt that she made as part of a charity project with her former guild in Austin. So beautiful!

Trina made this awesome owl quilt from a Elizabeth Hartman pattern for her sister. So beautiful with Kona solids on Essex linen!

Agnes was asked to take many ethnic fabrics from her neighbor's daughter's travels and make a quilt from it. It turned out beautifully! What a treasure this will be for the family.

Agnes also decided it was time to repurpose a wall hanging she just wasn't feeling. Now it's a pillow!

Jennifer designed this beautiful piece after being inspired by the recent Kaffe Fassett lecture in Oklahoma City. The colors are perfect and the quilting adds so much to it!

WHEW can you believe how productive our members are!? I can't what to see what our Christmas party holds!
