January Meeting Recap

We had a great kick off for 2017 at our first meeting of the year!

First we covered some updates regarding our major project of a gallery art show for the summer of 2018. Members have received info about this! If you are a member and want to be involved, reach out to Ann S or Agnes S.

We also introduced 2017's new board-

President
Karen Oyerly

Vice President
Debbie Wanzer

Secretary
Leslie Lamb

Treasurer
Paula Melendy

Membership Coordinator
Becca Pool

Communications Coordinator
Ann White

Programs Coordinator
Beth Furnish

Get to know your board and find out how you can get involved! We are currently looking for people interested in helping with communications (social media), hospitality (greeting members and visitors at meetings) and charity projects.

Debbie W introduced a great new idea she had for involvement- a bi-monthly block lottery. Find out all this information on this page.

Members brought some great projects to show off!

Melissa brought her flying geese quilt, which was so large it was hard to hold up properly! She even used solids that she has received at fabric swaps with the guild through the years. Beautiful!

Jennifer made an awesome tablet/laptop case for her friend. How lucky to receive such a great gift!

Jana made a simple but stunning large sawtooth star quilt. And the quilting is just breathtaking!  Be sure to enlarge the picture to see it properly.

Robert made fun gifts for his sisters this year- cactus pincushions!

Vicki made a modern table runner as part of a challenge with her small group. Simple and striking!

Agnes used different African dyed fabrics to make this gorgeous variation on a drunkard's path. The quilting is beautifully integrated!

Sarah is making mini quilts as part of monthly quilt diaries. I love this idea!

Ann W finished the president's challenge from last year- a variation of Alison Glass' Tessellation pattern.

We started off the year off right! If you've ever thought of joining our guild, come visit one of our  meetings! Next meeting is February 13 at 6:30 at the Northwest Library. Info is also in the blog sidebar.

December Flaunt Your Finishes

Holidays can both hold us back from finishing our projects, and inspire us to get them out the door! Our members finished some big projects last month.

Vickie finished this Snow Day sampler just in time for Christmas and will be able to enjoy it throughout winter. The pattern is even by a fellow Okie- Jana Davidson. Wonderful!

Julie finished two darling winter-themed quilts- how perfect are they?

Chanda finished an adorable quilt for her niece, who is posing so proudly with it! What a great gift.

And Agnes finished some great Christmas projects- a beautiful large quilt with Moda Grunge and fantastic free-motion quilting. Such a statement piece!

She also made a yukata (a Japanese housecoat) for her son. Lovely!

And she got festive with the Christmas colors in a 3-D pop up Christmas card! I love it!

Let's get 2017 kicked off and make some great art this year!

Twas the season- December meeting recap

Now that the holidays have passed, it's time to reflect on how much joy and good times with friends they brought us.

Our December meeting served as our Christmas party, and I think it's safe to say everyone had a blast.

We had a homemade (not necessarily by you) gift exchange where we switched gifts as Leslie led us in "Twas the Night before Christmas- Quilter's Version". Everyone had a ton of fun, got and gave great gifts, and had marvelous food.

We even had some members bring some great shows to share!

Debbie brought this gorgeous, modern Christmas quilt made with Cotton + Steel's Garland line.

Karen's kids were coming into town this season, which inspired her to finish some holiday UFOs from years past!

Stacie also felt the thrill of finishing a long-time WIP, from the workshop with Shannon Brinkley. Fabulous!

Jennifer was also inspired by a local workshop to make this beautiful Kaffe Fassett wall hanging for fall.

Mandy made this beautiful tie-memorial quilt for her neighbor whose husband recently passed. What a precious gift!

We had a great year, and hope you'll join us for a fabulous 2017!
