Meeting Wrap Up: February 2015

I dare say we were close to standing room only at our February meeting. What a great turnout! We welcomed many visitors and new members. Thanks everyone for your patience as we had a location change at the last minute. It's always a good idea to check-in (Facebook, blog, email) just to make sure you don't miss any last pre-meeting announcements.

Guild membership announced at the meeting was at 75 members...and counting! A BIG WELCOME to new and returning members.

The working title for February's meeting was "OKCMQG and YOU". Information was given on what the OKCMGQ is all about, what your membership and membership in the national Modern Quilt Guild means, as well as information on the various activities we participate in (e.g. sew days, small groups, charity projects).

This year's charity program will focus on Anna's House Foundation. Located in Luther, Oklahoma, Anna's House focuses on providing immediate, stable, loving homes to children under 6 years of age. We are asking for quilts specific to this age group, with dimensions no bigger than 45" x 60". It is recommended that quilts have machine-binding, as they will have a lot of use and laundering.

Cyndi had several small projects to share. First, napkin rings from the well-loved "Comma" fabric line...

A couple of cup koozies...

Her name tag.....(have you made yours?)

and this adorable bib!

Jana shared this great t-shirt quilt...

...and some of her free-motion filler designs she's been practicing.

Elizabeth made this quilt for her sister's birthday.

It was quilted by our own Jana, with the great all over design we love!

The pieced back of Elizabeth's quilt.

Diane made this baby quilt specifically to coordinate with the recipients home.

Dana made this wonderful quilt of triangles!

The pieced back with just a touch of color.

Bob shared a few of his projects that have been in quilt shows. He won 3rd place with this one!

This one is called "Any Which Way".

And another 3rd place winner!

And we can't forget...Viking Santa!

Linda made this wonderful quilt for her dad. I love these subtle colors!

Phoebe shared this cool table runner.

I love the colored quilting.

Phoebe also made this beautiful quilt!

And her pieced back echoes the front design.

Do you have seasonal quilts? Chanda made this great heart wall-hanging just in time for Valentine's Day!

Beth made this amazing quilt with wool AND cotton batting.

Her amazing quilting really stands out!

Ann made this sweet star quilt. We love the soothing colors.

Jemellia got her curve on and made this mat...

and here's the back!

She also shared this great bag, which I've added to my "To-Do" list. It's the Box Car Tote by Green Bee.

So, Vicki collects vintage blocks and had these lone feed-sack quilt blocks. She took them to her sewing group, where they colored them and turned them into a quilt. What a modern layout!

Her pieced back.

Agnes shared this wonderful wallet that fellow member, Ann, made for her. Agnes added a strap for ease.

Agnes has also made her lanyards for the lanyard swap at QuiltCon! And her cute infinity scarf.

If you were lucky enough to have a white heart under your chair, you won this cute little door prize!

Hope to see you at our next meeting!
